SGT University, Gurugram, in its series of townhalls hosted its next event on 27th July 2019.
Where Dr. L. Swasticharan, Chief Medical Officer (NOHP) in the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India, led the conversation on “Oral Health in India – A long term perspective”. He highlighted the vision which NOHP has had and also enlisted the objectives which has been achieved till date. He spoke at length about the opportunities, and challenges of oral healthcare and also highlighted future initiatives on accounts of research and innovation for the younger generation of oral health care specialists in our country.
The session was followed by interaction moderated by Dr. Shourya Tandon, Prof & Head, Public Health Dentistry where in questions ranging from basic to advanced dental care, rural urban divide in dental care, scope of speciality dental care, incorporation of specific oral health care needs in policy documents were asked. Dr. Swasticharan had open discussion with the audience and responded to all queries to the best of his ability. He invited open suggestions and proposals from the dental faculty which could be worked upon in future under the PPP objective of the National Oral Health Program.
He also visited the National Reference Simulation Centre and other specialist dental facilities like SGT Dental Expertz, CBCT Centre and Microscopic Enhanced Dentistry Centre at the Faculty of Dental Sciences.
All in all the day greatly benefited all the dental faculty members, postgraduates, interns and students.
