World Aids Day 2020
Department of Public Health Dentistry, Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University celebrated WORLD AIDS DAY on 1st December 2020 keeping in mind the theme of the year ‘ENDING HIV AIDS EPIDEMIC RESILIENCE AND IMPACT’ to spread awareness, end stigma and encourage comprehensive testing to reduce the burden of HIV-AIDS in the community.
As part of this year’s celebration, the activities were carried out at Dental Unit, SGT Medical Hospital, SGT University and multiple other locations across the campus.
Following Activities were carried out on the day:
- Health Talk by Postgraduate students showcasing educational videos
- Patient check-up for Oral Problems
- Distribution of IEC material on preventing HIV AIDS
- Distribution of Red Ribbons as a token of remembrance marking the importance of the day
Pledge boards were displayed at prominent locations wherein students, faculty members and patients actively pledged solidarity to the cause and took responsibility for spreading the message to the community. The NSS wing of SGT University also participated actively by helping in spreading awareness and distribution of IEC material.
Team Public Health Dentistry and other dental faculty members were actively involved in the day’s activities. The event was well perceived by patients and they volunteered to give their views as well. The event aimed at ending the stigma towards HIV-AIDS and promoting safe practices to prevent transmission and ending the HIV-AIDS epidemic.
