Q1. What is Periodontology?

Ans. Periodontology is a branch of dentistry that deals with proper arrangement of teeth. It cures the teeth suffering from ailments of teeth including the gums, cementum, periodontal layers, and alveolar bone.

Q2. What is the scope in Periodontology?

Ans.The responsibility and the scope of practice of periodontists, the American Academy of Periodontology presently states that a periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease and in the placement of dental implants.

Q3. Which programs does your university offer in Periodntology?

Ans. The university offers Master’s degree (MDS) as well as a PhD Program in the subject of Periodontology.

Q4. How many students intake does your university support each year?

Ans. Currently, the university is permitted to enroll six students per year under master’s program (MDS) and eight students per year under PhD program in the subject.

Q5. When does the admission start in the master’s and PhD program?

Ans. The Entrance test for admission in MDS is generally held in the month of December-Jan of the year of admission; followed by interview and Counseling. However, the classes start in the month of July in the year of admission. The Entrance test for admission in PhD is held in the month of July of the year of admission; followed by interview and Counselling. The classes start in the month of August every year.

Ans. Yes there is immense scope of research in Periodontology. All kind of research including microbiological and clinical trials are done in the department.
