Workshop on Rotary Endodontics in Primary Teeth
In order to keep up with the advances occurring in the dental world, an informative lecture and Hands-on Workshop was organised by Young Smile Keepers Academic Association (Constituted under Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry) in association with Orikam Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. on the topic of ‘Rotary Endodontics in Primary Teeth’ on 16 Dec 2019. The aim of the workshop was to help students learn the use of rotary filing system in primary teeth. Two reputed speakers Dr. Vivek Gaurav and Dr. Himanshu Kapoor graced the event with their presence.The event was not only attended by Postgraduate students and Interns from the faculty but also by Postgraduate students from neighbouring colleges. The lecture series was followed by Hands-on training wherein the use of a rotary file system in primary teeth was demonstrated and practiced by the participants.
Camp at Juvenile Justice Board Observation Home
The Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University successfully conducted a check-up and treatment camp at Juvenile Justice Board Observation Home for Boys, Sewa kutir Complex, Mukherjee Nagar on June 6th 2016.
A total of 120 children were screened for oral hygiene status, routine oral hygiene practices along with any history and habit of substance abuse. Appropriate treatment was given to the children and needful measures included oral prophylaxis, restorations as well as reinforcing correct oral hygiene practices was given. The patients were educated on the importance of good oral health. They were also counseled about the ill effects of tobacco and its various forms.
Dental Check up & Treatment Camp
Department of Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry, faculty of
dental sciences, is conducting a dental check up and treatment
camp on 06-06-2016 at Sewa kutir Juvenile Home near BBM depo,
kings Way Camp, New delhi.
Around 170 children will be screened for their oral health and
necessary dental treatment will be provided to them.
The camp will lead by Dr Anil Gupta (Prof. & HOD). staff and
post graduate students will be participating in the camp.
Perio-Pedo summit
Perio-Pedo summit will be held on 9 march 2016. The occasion will graced by Dr . Vineeta Chugh as a guest of honor and Dr Rajiv K Chugh (Member dental council of india, central govt nominee) as chief guest.
• A Teachers Week Celebrations – was done by the Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry under which various activities such educational oral health awareness program, Oro-dental checkup for both school teachers and students, Teacher’s quiz competition and a questionnaire study was conducted by the department under ISPPD (Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry) flagship. It was an all India competition.
The Society has now appreciated the department for its efforts and has recognized it with a certificate. It is truly a moment of pride for the department to get its efforts in nurturing children recognized at national level.
• Children Day celebrations - by the Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry on 14/11/19. The colorful day was celebrated by starting with decoration of the department with balloons and other materials. A drawing competition was also organized for the kids visiting the department in which all the participants were given small token of appreciations. For the parents a corner with educative posters and cases done by post graduate students of the department was displayed.
Along with the above said activities which were carried out throughout the day, two first year postgraduate students were also felicitated for creating the logo of our association. The day was indeed a colorful day filled with laughter of the kids visiting the department.
• CDE and Workshop on Zirconia Crowns in Pediatric Dentistry - Keeping in mind the changing trends in pediatric dentistry, a CDE program was organized by Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry under the able guidance of Dr Anil Gupta (HOD and Professor) on 20/10/18. The topic for the program was Zirconia Crowns in Pediatric Dentistry and was consucted by Dr M.S. Muthu, with the objective to increase knowledge of post graduate and graduate students about various indications and advantages of zirconia crowns. Both Students from university and from colleges located in NCR region attended the CDE program. The CDE was followed by Hands on session for the participants training for use of zirconia crowns in dentistry
• A lecture on Early Childhood caries - was organized by the Department in association with Colgate on 10th August 2018. The lecture explained the students about the etiology and management of Early Childhood caries. Also, importance of brushing was explained along with importance of diet in caries prevention.
• Multidesign approach to optimize implant based Rehabilitation” Perio – Pedo Continuum – a CDE program was organized by Department on 10/8/17. The topic for the program was Multidesign approach to optimize implant based Rehabilitation” Perio – Pedo Continuum in which Dr Anand Krishnamurthy imparted knowledge and provided training to post graduate and graduate students about multidesign approaches available for rehabilitation after implant insertion. Both Students from university and from colleges located in NCR region along with private practitioners attended the CDE program. The CDE was followed by Hands on session for the participants training for design approaches for rehabilitation after implant placement.
• Current Paradigms in Pediatric Dentistry – a CDE titled “Current Paradigms in Pediatric Dentistry” was organised by the department on Thursday, 12th Feb, 2015 at Auditorium, SGT University, Gurgaon.
