A screening camp focusing on identifying red and white lesions in the oral cavity was conducted as part of the World Cancer Day celebrations by the Advanced Stomato-Diagnostician Association under the Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology at Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University. All teaching and non-teaching employees of SGT University were invited to participate in the Oral Precancer screening camp held on February 15, 2024.
A total of 64 patients underwent screening during the camp, revealing 15 individuals with oral potentially malignant red and white lesions. Notably, two lesions were addressed through laser ablation using the BIOLASE laser. This initiative served to educate and raise awareness among participants about their oral health and the detrimental effects of tobacco use, a leading cause of oral precancer and cancer. The program was conceptualized by Dr. Astha Chaudhry, Professor and Head of the Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology. The execution and coordination were led by Dr Vishesh Yadav, Associate Professor, Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology.
